An assessment is a process of testing, designed to identify a child’s areas of strengths and weakness, with the purpose of developing a personalised intervention programme or support structure.

 

 

An Educational Assessment is an ideal starting point to evaluate a child’s progress or to identify learning or social/emotional barriers.  It incorporates standardised testing as well as observation to measure cognitive and academic potential, emotional development, social functioning and overall development.

An Accommodation Assessment is a specialised assessment designed to identify which concessions a student would benefit from in order to assist them in reaching their full potential at school. An accommodation, or concession, is a support tool to help children when working under test conditions and in the classroom generally.

A Career Assessment is an evaluation of a child's aptitude. Aptitude is a child's natural ability in an area - such a calculations, or mechanical insight. A career test also investigates a child's personality traits and their values in order to see how these pieces all fit together. The career battery differs from psychologist to psychologist, but usually includes these tests in some form.
